International Economics II

This course applies some of the 'core' theory from the pure theory of trade and international finance to some topics of interest in the international arena. Topics might include: the gains from trade revisited, endogenous growth and trade policy, the 'new' protectionism, multinational corporations and the transfer of technology, the 'new' regionalism, reforming the international financial architecture, predicting exchange rates movements, coping with international capital flows, the prospects for monetary integration in Asia, international money, the euro, and the internationalisation of the Singapore dollar, the international debt problem.
