This course explores the role of philanthropy and impact investing in addressing social problems. Using cases and readings, it will provide an overview of philanthropy, impact investing and the non-profit sector and the relationship of these elements to government action. The course will examine actionable measurement of success in private acton for public good. “Actionable” means that the measurement is used by managers, investors, and other stakeholders in making decisions. Students will participate in group projects to examine the practice and challenges of philanthropy and impact investing in Asia.
