Introduction to Public Speaking

This module prepares students to be effective and efficient public speakers. It offers an overview of the theories of oral communication and public speaking, with particular emphasis on the practical aspects of researching, organizing and presenting speeches. It looks into adapting evidence, language, visual aids and other message characteristics for strategic communication to designated audiences. It emphasizes principles and methods of selected forms of public speaking for various purposes, audiences and contexts and includes practice in the critical analysis of speeches.
