Developing State in a Changing World Order

This course explores the changing role of developing countries in a changing international order. It does so by adopting an approach that combines history, theory, and doctrine. The course will examine the historical origins of the contemporary international legal system, and the theoretical debates that have accompanied its evolution, focusing in particular on relations between the Western and non-Western worlds. It will then examine selected topics of international law that are of current significancethese may include international human rights law, the law relating to the use of force, the international law of trade and foreign investment.
