Mathematical Methods in Physics II

This module introduces important mathematical methods for the solution of a variety of mathematical problems in science. The material is also fundamental to many areas of applied mathematics and theoretical physics. The following topics are covered: complex analysis and contour integration, Fourier and Laplace transforms, Green’s functions, distributions, curvilinear coordinates and elements of tensor analysis, elements of group theory, calculus of variations, and their applications in physics. This module is targeted at students who already have a basic knowledge of vector calculus and differential equations.
