Criminal Forensic Psychology

Criminal forensic psychology is the intersection between psychology and the criminal justice system, which involves the understanding of criminal law in the relevant jurisdictions in order to interact appropriately with the legal professionals. The course will introduce students to the relevant sentencing and evidentiary issues, as well as the literature on the assessment andmanagement of violent and sexual offending behaviours, amongst other problem behaviours. In addition, the course will explore areas relating to eyewitness testimony in children. Further, the association between personality disorders and offending behaviours, as well as the relevant assessment and management issues will be examined.
