Introduction to Social Policy (Gateway)

Economic, political, and social transformations have thrust social policies to the centre of public policy. Well-designed social policies are acknowledged as a prerequisite for development. Conversely, inadequate or poorly designed social policies have the potential to wreck public finance, destabilize governments, and trigger social unrest. The course is a prerequisite for courses in the Specialization in Social Policy. It offers an introduction to essential concepts, approaches, and analytical tools in social policy from a comparative perspective.
