Historicizing the Black Pacific

If you live in a cave, you may be unaware of enthusiasm for African American art-forms, throughout Asia, in the last 10 years. But no matter where you live, it can be hard to gauge how much energy has sparked and flowed, for generations, between this part of the globe and what has been called “Afmerica.” This module introduces students to a few of the far-reaching conversations that have mapped the Black Pacific. Topics of special interest include history, literature and film in the past and the present-day.
