This module provides students the opportunity to engage colalboratively in academic research. It prepares students for independent research later in their university careers by developing good research practices. We will work on these skills through close attention to the human practices and modes of thinking associated with and concerning death. Possible research topics may be: the impossibility of experiencing one’s own death; the relation to the death of the other; practices of mourning; representing death; or mass genocide. Each student will produce a research essay in which they pose a discipline-centered problem within the broader topic and seek to offer reasons for their answer to that problem.
