This module serves as an introduction to economics and the way economists think. It is a pre-requisite for majoring in economics only for those who have not taken Economics in the A-level or equivalent. It introduces students to a distinct perspective on the world surrounding us: that of an economist. Economists are mainly concerned with the study of choice: choices made by consumers (buy the latest gizmo or save the money?), firms (how much to produce and what price to charge?) and policy-makers (bail out the banks or reduce income tax rates?) are all within the purview of economic analysis.
